QUESTION: Secretary Powell, I need to ask you what you have been discussing
on combating terrorism and --
SECRETARY POWELL: We had a good conversation with President Megawati and she
had good meetings with President Bush today. They put out a strong statement
on terrorism and another statement on a relationship between Indonesia and the
United States.
It was our pleasure to welcome her here and to congratulate her on assuming
the presidency, and to let her know that the United States and Indonesia will
be working closely in the future on economic development, on democracy and we
recognize the importance of Indonesia in Asia and especially Southeast Asia
and we want nothing but good, friendly, solid, improving relations with Indonesia
and especially the people of Indonesia.
