July - Benjamin Lincoln enters the 3rd Regiment of the Suffolk militia as an Adjutant.

- Benjamin Lincoln is elected town clerk of Hingham, Massachusetts.

- Benjamin Lincoln is elected justice of the peace.

January - Benjamin Lincoln is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the 3rd Reg. of the Suffolk militia.

July 2 - Benjamin Lincoln meets General George Washington at Cambridge, Massachuetts.
