Senator Gaius first appears with Senator Falco on the German frontier when they attempt to draw Maximus into a discussion of politics and the restoration of the Republic, which he resists. Later on, he emerges as a supporter of Senator Gracchus in restoring the Republic and concern over how Commodus rules.
