Susan was Michael's boyfriend and Walt's mother. When she was pregnant with Walt and when he was a baby, she was going to law school and working while Michael stayed home with Walt. When he was two, she took a job in Europe as an international law attorney. She kept Michael at arm's length and then finally let him know that she was dating her boss, Brian. After Michael got in an accident, she came back to New York to visit him. She also came to tell him that she was moviing to Australia, marrying Brian and that he wanted to adopt Walt. Michael was on Flight 815 with Walt because Susan had recently died and Brian had come to New York with tickets for Michael to go pick up Walt.
