Volume 3: "Villains"
Episode 1: The Second Coming; 9/22/2008
The first chapter of "Volume 3: Villains" kicks off moments after shots rang out, as the shocking identity of Nathan's assassin and the reasons why the Texas press conference had to be cut short are revealed -- immediately throwing Peter and Matt into unexpected, uncharted territory. With his powers partially restored, Sylar decides a visit to Claire could give him a boost. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Hiro and Ando are charged with safeguarding a family secret that could split the planet apart, and discover that the path to a grim future starts with shady speedster, Daphne. In New York City, thanks to Maya , Suresh makes a startling breakthrough that could change the world -- or just destroy his. And who is Tracy Strauss?
Episode 2: The Butterfly Effect; 9/22/2008
Angela confronts her much-changed son, Peter, as the bursts of violence around them only hint to the catastrophes to come. First, Sylar declares war on the Company by attacking their main facility, and finds even more than he bargained for on Level 5. During a devastating battle with Elle, a dozen savage criminals -- all with terrible abilities -- escape. Meanwhile, Claire discovers something new and unexpected about her abilities. Determined to reclaim his family's terrible secret, Hiro and Ando track Daphne to Paris. After a fateful night, Suresh is thrilled to find his research, his life and his relationship with Maya evolving in leaps and bounds. Stuck in unfamiliar territory, Matt finds a guide to help him.
Episode 3: One of Us, One of Them; 9/29/2008
When four ruthless, powerful Villains -- "Knox," Flint (guest star Blake Shields), The German and Jesse -- bust into a bank and take hostages, Angela sends H.R.G. and his shocking, new empowered partner in after them. Determined to derail a cataclysmic future, Peter must first find what he lost along the way. Meanwhile, Hiro and Ando track Daphne and part of "the formula" to Germany, but run afoul of The Haitian. Horrified by her ability, Tracy Strauss leaves Washington, D.C. to search for answers about Niki. A distraught Claire asks Meredith to teach her how to fight. As his romance with Maya intensifies, Suresh finds himself unprepared when his experiment yields some unexpected results.
Episode 4: I Am Become Death; 10/6/2008
Seeing a future where nearly everyone has abilities, a world destined for destruction, Peter resolves to prevent this earth-shattering end -- whatever the cost -- and so takes on a dark, unwieldy ability to save the world -- gambling (wrong) that it won't destroy him and everything he loves first. After allowing Angela's half of "the formula" to be stolen, Hiro and Ando set out to uncover the identity of the Villain who hired Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) -- and must consult with the person who knows these rogues best.Adam Monroe. After the bloodbath at the bank, H.R.G. resolves to get rid of his new partner. Meanwhile, determined to be a hero, Claire hits the road after one of the Villains from H.R.G.'s old files. Suresh gives in to impulse. Linderman and Molly return in unexpected manners. A new romance ignites between two Heroes.
Episode 5: Angels and Monsters; 10/13/2008
Armed with H.R.G.'s old files and a taser, Claire attempts to take down her first target -- Stephen Canfield (Andre Royo), a Level 5 escapee with the ability to create black holes -- unaware that others are closing in. Meanwhile, in horror, Peter flees from all the death and destruction in the future, only to grimly discover how deeply the experience has changed him. Frustrated that Adam Monroe didn't get them closer to "the formula," Hiro takes a stab at becoming friends with Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) and new associate Knox (guest star Jaime Hector), much to Ando's dismay. Later, Suresh's urge to correct research errors puts Maya, among others, in a sticky situation. Linderman advises Nathan to stick by Tracy, seeing that they could accomplish great things together. In Africa, Matt sees his vision of "happily ever after" destroyed.
Episode 6: Dying of the Light; 10/20/2008
Impressed by his sudden ruthlessness, Villains Knox (guest star Jamie Hector) and Daphne (guest star Brea Grant) bring Hiro -- among others -- into the Pinehearst fold, and give him an assignment. With Angela and the Company paralyzed by recent events, Peter goes directly to Pinehearst for answers, and is irrevocably changed by the shocking meeting. Meanwhile, Claire and her mother Sandra attempt to free Meredith from the thrall of escaped Villain Doyle (David H. Lawrence XVII), who has the ability to take mental and physical control of others. Later, Nathan brings Tracy to Suresh, hoping he can shed light on the surprising origin of their abilities.
Episode 7: Eris Quod Sum; 10/27/08
Trapped and terrified, Nathan and Tracy fight for their lives against a much-changed, monstrous Suresh to free themselves, Maya and the doctor's other "test subjects." Elle returns, with a shock for Claire and her family. Meanwhile, aware of Peter's ruthless take down by her rivals at Pinehearst, Angela reaches out to convince Sylar to save his brother. Since he won't sign up with the Villains, Daphne is ordered by her boss to go back and kill Matt -- or be killed herself. While in awe of the African precog's power, Hiro still questions Usutu's advice on how to best face his gathering opponents.
Episode 8: Villains; 11/10/08
To prepare for the confrontation ahead, Hiro follows respected businessman, husband and father Arthur Petrelli (guest star Robert Forster) in the days before he "died" -- to discover what drove him to create rival company Pinehearst and strike at Angela. Later, a moment unfolds where Sylar, horrified and guilt-ridden, might have stopped his murderous pursuit of abilities -- that is, if H.R.G. and Elle had swayed from their monstrous assignment. Finally, under the wing of Company man Thompson (guest star Eric Roberts), agent-in-training Meredith (guest star Jessalyn Gelsig) watches her new life go up in smoke, following the arrival of her hot-headed brother.
Episode 9: It's Coming; 11/17/08
After a preemptive strike against Hiro and Ando in Africa, Arthur Petrelli (guest star Robert Forster) orders Knox and Flint to hunt down his son Peter and granddaughter Claire. Nathan is stunned to learn his father is alive -- and leading a villainous charge to worldwide destruction. Meanwhile, back at Pinehearst, Sylar has a charged confrontation with Elle. Suresh begins testing his new, combined superpower formula. Later, with the others dead, injured or on the run, Matt attempts to wake Angela.
Episode 10: The Eclipse, Part 1; 11/24/08
After reuniting Sylar and Elle, Arthur (guest star Robert Forster) orders them to find Claire and bring her to him. Matt, Hiro and Ando team up together and follow Daphne to her hometown of Athens, Georgia to discover what she's been hiding. Meanwhile, Nathan and Peter Petrellitravel together to Haiti in search of the the only man that can stop their father from destroying the world, the Haitian.
Episode 11: The Eclipse, Part 2; 12/1/08
The eclipse continues to impact the Heroes' abilities as Elle and Sylar face off against a vengeful H.R.G. while Claire struggles to survive. In Haiti, Peter and Nathan join forces with the Haitian to battle the Haitian's brother, Baron Samedi (guest star Demetrius Grosse), and Nathan comes to a shocking decision. In the meantime, Ando, Sam (guest star Seth Green) and Frack (guest star Breckin Meyer) work hard to get Hiro's memory back with the help of the "9th Wonders" comic books at a local comic bookstore.
Episode 12: Our Father; 12/8/08
Hoping to find a way to stop Arthur, Hiro and Claire band together and travel back in time 16 years to when Kaito gave baby Claire to H.R.G.. Meanwhile, Peter and the Haitian team up to finish off Arthur Petrelli for good but are interrupted by Sylar. Elsewhere, in the lab, Suresh has a major breakthrough with the formula that will likely change everything.
Episode 13: Dual; 12/15/08
In the aftermath of the showdown against Arthur Petrelli, the Petrelli brothers Nathan and Peter find themselves battling against one another and Nathan makes a move that will have global repercussions. Meanwhile, Sylar holds Claire, H.R.G., Meredith and Angela hostage at Primatech and a face-off ensues. Elsewhere, Ando, Matt and Daphne continue their attempts rescue Hiro -- and Dr. Suresh may be their only hope.
