This SciFi Channel series is a reimagined update of the original series from former Star Trek producer Ronald D. Moore. Most of the original main characters are there, but with significant changes. Apollo and his father have a strained relationship. Tigh is an alcoholic. Starbuck is a woman and was involved with Zak, Apollo's younger brother. Boomer is a woman with a big secret. Boxey is in the Miniseries, but relegated to deleted scenes in Season 1 and gone altogether by Season 2. The Cylons are back, but this time as a creation of humanity itself (rather than a reptilian race), and at least in the first season, they seem to be holding all the cards. The show has a loose story arc and is character driven with the science fiction aspects of the show not always the overwhelming driving force of the story.
