In The Two Towers:
When Faramir returns to Osgiliath with Frodo, Sam and Gollum as his prisoners, Madril reports the status of the city's defenses. Faramir then orders him to take the prisoners to his father, Denethor. However, the Nazgûl attacks and Faramir ends up changing his mind. He orders Madril to release them even as Madril reminds him that he is forfeiting his own life by letting them go.
In The Return of the King:
Madril helps Faramir command the defenses of Osgiliath, when the Orcs attack and overrun the city. He is wounded during the fighting and then killed by Gothmog.
