Charlton Heston:
In Tombstone
Like many others in the ensemble cast of Tombstone, Charlton Heston had only
a few scenes as legendary rancher Henry Hooker. His scenes were among the first
filmed during production and were filmed when Writer
Kevin Jarre was still working as the film's director. Earlier drafts
of the script had Hooker playing a larger part in the film.
It is probable that much of Heston's scenes were left on the cutting room floor
when Director
George Cosmatos edited the film. Heston was left with little more than
a cameo, playing a hardened rancher who is independent of the conflict. His
casting gives his character stature with the larger-than-life figures of Wyatt
Earp and Curly
Bill Brocius.
