Henry Hooker is a powerful rancher in the Arizona territory. He has suffered
cattle and horse rustling at the hands of the Cowboys, but has done little to
actively fight their activities beyond protecting his own lands as best as he
can. Hooker allows his ranch to be used as a temporary refuge for Wyatt
Earp and his deputies during their pursuit of the Cowboys. He also offers
to protect Doc
Holliday while he recovers.
It is at Hooker's ranch that the stagecoach stops off for water and Wyatt has
a parting encounter with Josephine
Marcus and learns of Mr. Fabian's murder. It is also while they are
at Hooker's ranch that Sherman McMasters leaves to parley with the Cowboys and
murdered, which prompts Wyatt to accept Johnny
Ringo's challenge.
