Galadriel

Portrayed by: Cate Blanchett

Appears in:
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

Galadriel:
- Lady of Lothlórien
- Wife of Celeborn
- Bearer of Nenya, Ring of Adamant, one of the three Elven Rings

In The Fellowship of the Ring:
Galadriel recounts the tale of the One Ring from its creation by Sauron to its coming to Isildur following Sauron's defeat at the Battle of Dagorlad to its passing from Gollum to Bilbo.

When the Fellowship comes to Lothlórien, Lady Galadriel realizes that Gandalf has fallen in Moria. She then probes each member of the Fellowship, offering them something that they greatly desire. Later, she leads Frodo to the Mirror of Galadriel where she shows him possible futures and warns him that someone in the Fellowship will try and take the Ring. Frodo offers the Ring to her, which is something she has longed for, but she turns it down. She knows that her end is coming, because either Sauron will defeat all or the Ring will be destroyed and her elven ring will also fade.

As the Fellowship leaves Lothlórien, Galadriel gives them gifts of three elven boats and waybread. She gives Frodo a phial of the light of Eärendil. To Sam she gives elven rope. To Legolas, she gives a quiver of arrows. She gives Merry and Pippin belts and daggers of silver. To Aragorn, she gives a hunting dagger. She also gives Gimli three strands of her hair after he asked for just one.

In The Two Towers:
Galadriel's only presence is in a narration half way through the film to recap parts of the story and events in Middle-Earth.

In The Return of the King:
Galadriel sails into the West from the Grey Havens with the other Ringbearers which ends the tale of The Lord of the Rings.
