The seven Dwarven rings were forged by Elves, but taken by Sauron. He gave them to Dwarven kings and lords in hopes of bending them to his will and he had done with the nine kings of men. Though greedy, selfish and driven to hoard treasures, the Dwarves proved resistant to the magic of the rings and strong-willed. For this reason, Sauron instead strove to lay siege to Dwarven strongholds and destroy them. By the end of the Third Age, all seven rings had long been lost.
