Lord of the Rings Rings & Things: Gandalf's Staff
Gandalf's Staff:
- Appears in The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King
In The Fellowship of the Ring:
Gandalf's Staff is more than just a simple walking stick. He used it in his struggle with Saruman until Saruman was able to take it from him which ends the fight. After he escaped from the Tower of Orthanc, Gandalf somehow retrieved his staff. Gandalf used it as a light in Moria and then a defensive weapon against the Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm.
In The Two Towers:
When Gandalf appeared in Fangorn Forest, he used the Staff as a shield against the attack of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas. When they arrived t the Golden Hall in Edoras, Gandalf convinced the doorward Hama to allow him to keep his staff. He then was able to use the staff to draw Saruman out of King Théoden and break his spell.
In The Return of the King: The Extended Edition:
When Gandalf talked with Saruman after his defeat by the Ents, Saruman attacked him. Gandalf used his staff to defend himself. Later, Gandalf used his staff in his battle with the Witchking.
