Gamling In The Two Towers:
Gamling is a trusted advisor to King Théoden. After Gandalf breaks Saruman's spell, he retrieves the King's sword. He helps fend off the Warg attack on the way to Helm's Deep. He stays by the King's side during the battle of Helm's Deep and rides out with Théoden and Aragorn.
In The Return of the King:
Gamling rides with King Théoden to Dunharrow. After Aragorn leaves for the Paths of the Dead, Gamling openly questions Aragorn's courage and is set straight by Théoden. He meets his end on during the battle at Pelennor Fields.
