Lord of the Rings Races: Wild Men (Dunlendings)
Wild Men:
The Wild Men were displaced when Eorl was granted the land of Rohan by the Steward of Gondor. They were driven into the hills by the Rohirrim and have resented them ever since. They now dwell in harsher terrain of Dunland and have also come to be known as Dunlendings.
Saruman recruited the Wild Men because of their hatred of the Rohirrim. He encouraged them to seek revenge on the Rohirrim and even promised them the return of their former lands in order to gain their allegience. With his protection, they then eagerly ravaged the Westfold.
