Bio
Joely Richardson was born in January 1965 in London, England to British director Tony Richardson and actress Vanessa Redgrave. Her aunt is Lynn Redgrave and her sister was Natasha Richardson. Despite the extensive stage and film pedigree, Joely did not have much interest in acting early on, but being from an acting family, she did dabble. She made her debut in her father's film The Hotel New Hampshire. Her second role in Wetherby was playing a younger version of her mother's character.
Richardson then worked on British television and stage for several years. She appeared in Hollywood films King Ralph with John Goodman, Shining Through with Michael Douglas and Neil Simon's I'll Do Anything as well as several smaller, but critically acclaimed films as Sister My Sister and Hollow Reed. She also appeared in other wide ranging films as the live action version of 101 Dalmatians and the scifi thriller Event Horizon.
