Cheyenne
Autumn is one of Director John Ford's final films. It features a
solid cast: Richard Widmark, Jimmy Stewart, Edward G. Robinson, Karl Malden,
Ricardo Montalban and John Carradine. It also included Sal Mineo, Patrick Wayne
(John Wayne's son) and an uncredited role by Ben Johnson. It is mainly a tale
about Cheyenne Indians trying to escape the reservation and return to the freedom
of the open wilderness. However, there is a subplot that involves Wyatt Earp
and Doc Holliday that lasts for about 20-30 minutes of the film.
