Elrond In The Two Towers:
Following Aragorn's departure from Rivendell, Elrond talked to Arwen about her relationship with Aragorn being doomed to sadness no matter the outcome of things. He tries to convince her to make the journey to the Grey Havens and sail to the Undying Lands.
Later, however, he sends Haldir with a force of Elves to Helm's Deep to aid King Théoden, reviving the long dormant alliance between Elves and Men.
Also, in a flashback to just before the Fellowship left Rivendell, Aragorn remembers a talk with Elrond, who convinced him to let Arwen go for her own good.
