Lurtz:
In The Fellowship of the Ring:
Lurtz is an Uruk-hai, which are a product of Saruman's breeding of Orcs with Men. Saruman orders Lurtz to go after the Hobbits and bring them back alive and "unspoiled." Lurtz and his band of Uruk-hai catch up with The Fellowship at Amon Hen. He mortally wounds Boromir, who is attempting to protect Merry and Pippin. After those two are secured and carried away, Aragorn arrives and defeats Lurtz after a fierce duel. Though Lurtz is killed, his duel with Aragorn gives the other Uruk-hai time to get a lead on Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas.
