The show's frenetic pacing and multiple plot lines were a fresh shake-up for episodic television. The show could also leave a viewer emotionally and physically drained, because the audience rarely could catch a breath with the intensity of the show. The first four seasons of the show were by far the best because everything was so new and the original cast had a blank canvas to work with. Even more than a decade later, the show is still solid, but sometimes suffers from a somewhat revolving door for cast. It actually breaks its own mold by occasionally slowing the pace. The show's often frenetic style with multiple storylines has also been copied .
