Comments from PatriotResource.com:
The show's frenetic pacing and multiple plot lines were a fresh shake-up for episodic television. The show could also leave a viewer emotionally and physically drained, because the audience rarely could catch a breath with the intensity of the show. The first four seasons of the show were by far the best because everything was so new and the original cast had a blank canvas to work with. The show lasted fifteen years, occasionally had a revolving door for cast and actually broke its own mold with some location episodes and slowing the pace. The show's often frenetic style with multiple storylines has also been copied more than a few times since the show premiered.
