A corporate litigator with a reputation for ruthlessness, Eli Stone is transformed from ambitious go-getter to reluctant do-gooder when a vision of George Michael singing "Faith" inspires him to re-examine his life. At first, skeptical of his powers of prophecy, his visions eventually remind him of the destiny his father once predicted for him: "You're going to help people." In Season Two of the most original legal drama on television, Eli convinces his hard-nosed boss Jordan Wethersby (Victor Garber) that pro bono is the way to go. But there's no way Wethersby's daughter (and Eli's former fiancée) Taylor (Natasha Henstridge) is going to let her dad change the firm's direction without a fight and features guest appearances by Katie Holmes, Taraji Henson, Sigourney Weaver, Katey Sagal and Seal.

Thanks to its premiering after Lost, we gave this quirky drama a try and found ourselves hooked. The idea of a lawyer not only growing a conscience, but apparently some sort of connection to a higher power was intriguing. The show was a bit uneven at times and had a strange mix of left-leaning causes and religion, which made for some politically preachy moments. In need of a reset after ending the first season with Eli's surgery, Eli strikes a bargain with the higher power. Ignoring this contrivance, the second season nonetheless introduced some risky, but great twists. There was far less George Michael and fewer musical numbers, but we were almost always challenged to think at least just a little bit. That is perhaps why the show didn't garner stronger ratings bringing on its cancellation. We recommend giving the show a try at least once.
