2/2/10: According to Matthew Fox, the two timelines from season five will be "solidified into one time" about a third of the way into season six. Jack and Locke will also face off a great deal. 2/2/10: Frank Lapidus, Ilana and Richard Alpert are regular characters. Claire has returned as a regular character. In spite of season 5's reveal, Locke is also back as a regular character. Juliet's is less so since the actress is on 'V', so she could still be around. Hopefully, there will be still be some Desmond and Penny this last season.]
5/24/09: Cynthia Watros has been approached more than once about appearing to finish Libby's storyling and she has declined. Eko's arc was planned to last four seasons, but the actor did not want to live in Hawaii. From Comics on Comics

5/13/09: The fate of the characters will be "very defined." As far as "every little bit of minutiae about the Island itself, there will be questions after the show." From Kristin [So we'll know what happens to the characters, but the Island might not be fully explained.]
4/3/09: In spite of Elizabeth Mitchell having filmed a pilot, Juliet will be back. From Ausiello
2/28/09: Charlotte "may" return in the sixth season. From Los Angeles Times
2/9/09: Though we'll see how Locke died in the fifth season, we won't find out what the Island really wants with Locke until the sixth season. From TV Guide

11/16/08: Zuleikha Robinson has been cast as Ilana, which is a recurring character for season 5 with an option for appearing in season six. From Ausiello [There is a possibility that this character is actually a younger version of Danielle Rousseau.]
10/16/08: Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) posted this over at The Fuselage: "There's some question as to whether I'll go the rest of the way."
8/9/08: More casting info on the two new characters: "Casear, a dangerous, physical and extremely intelligent male between the ages of 35 and 45. Although his intentions are unclear, this much is certain: he's as skillful at charming people as he is at killing them. He also has a dark past... Ilanna, a European female in her late 20s to early 30s who possesses great intelligence, but who's also dangerous as all get out. She's alluring and apparently used to getting her own way." 8/9/08: Two new recurring characters for season five that could become regulars in season six: a 40-ish dangerous, intelligent man whose intentions are unclear and a 30-ish charming, brilliant and dangerous European woman with a dark, mysterious past. From secretagentman
7/17/08: Christian Shephard and Charles Widmore are likely to be recurring characters in the fifth season with the possibility of being regulars in the sixth season. From Ausiello [Widmore's expanded role isn't that surprising, but would Christian be Jack's dad or the embodiment of the Island?]
7/2/08: According to Naveen Andrews the finale will be on the Island. [Not that big of a surprise even though the action appears to be moving off the Island in season 5.]
5/31/08: Emilie de Ravin will not be a regular in the fifth season, but is expected to return in the sixth season. From Kristin [Here's to hoping that she does more in her return and has a better ending than Michael, who skipped a season too.]
5/27/08: A female series regular going back to season one will not appear in season five, but may return for the sixth season. From Kristin [Sure seems like this would be Claire.]
