Gimli In The Two Towers:

Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas enter the land of Rohan and on the Plains of Rohan encounter a force of Rohirrim led by Éomer, who tells them that they had wiped out a party of Uruk-hai. They find the site of the skirmish and think that Merry and Pippin have been killed until they find a trail leading into Fangorn Forest. Gimli does not like the forest and the forest does not like his big axe. In there, they find that Gandalf is alive and tells them that Merry and Pippin are in good hands.

Gandalf leads them to Edoras, capital of Rohan, and to the Golden Hall, seat of the throne of Rohan. Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas guard Gandalf's back as he approaches King Théoden, silences Gríma and breaks Saruman's hold over the King. After the King orders the evacuation of Edoras, Gimli joins the battle against the Warg Raid near the White Mountains. Gimli, Aragorn and Legolas next join King Théoden at Helm's Deep where Gimli joins them in the defense of the Deeping Wall during the battle against Saruman's army of Uruk-Hai. He and Aragorn go outside the gate of the Hornburg to clear it of attackers while the Rohirrim reinforce the gate. After the Wall is compromised, Gimli is lost among the incoming attackers, but Legolas finds him alive and well.
