Lieutenant Gaeta serves in CIC as the tactical officer. He is nearly flawless at calculation FTL jumps. Commander William Adama also assigned Gaeta to assist Gaius Baltar in perfecting his Cylon detector. When Baltar is accused of treason, Gaeta is charged with running tests on the evidence. The evidence first proves Baltar's guilt, but on his own initiative in rechecking the evidence, which led him to discover that it was faked.
