Hot Dog in Season One:
Costanza washed out of flight school. When several Viper pilots are killed in a hanger deck accident on the Galactica, he is brought in as a recruit. He quickly shows a cockiness that gives him his callsign, 'Hot Dog'. While on a training mission, a Cylon Raiderpatrol appears. Disobeying Lieutenant Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace's orders, he refuses to leave her wing and his Viper is shot up. Alert 1 recovers him and when he returns to Galactica, Captain Lee 'Apollo' Adama lets him know that he has noticed his ability. Costanza later takes part in the diversionary portion of the attack on the Cylon Mining Base, which is successful.
