Arwen Evenstar In The Fellowship of the Ring:
Arwen surprises Aragorn while he is searching through the forest near the Troll Camp for Athelas to be used to treat the wound that Frodo received from the Witchking, Lord of the Nazgûl at Weathertop. Seeing the severity of Frodo's wound, Arwen chooses to take Frodo to Rivendell herself. AFter being pursued along the East Road, she arrives at the Ford of Bruinen just ahead of the pursuing Nazgûl. She then entices them to cross the river. As they do, she calls up a rush of water that overwhelms the Nazgûl.
Later at Rivendell, Arwen comes to Aragorn after he has spoken with Boromir before the shrine to the Shards of Narsil. She tells him not to fear his fate as heir to Isildur. She then recalls when they first met. She tells him that she has chosen to bind herself to him and become mortal. He does not want her to do so, but she has already decided. She gives him her Evenstar necklace as a symbol of her devotion to him.
