Previously on Lost: Danielle tells the survivors that the Others are coming as Jack watches the smoke and they can run, hide or die. As the hatch is revealed, Jack says they have a plan, which Arzt says is going to the jungle, getting some dynamite, blowing open the hatch and hiding everyone inside. Hurley sees the numbers ('4', '8', '15', '16', '23', '42') on the side of the hatch. He is running and yelling for Locke to stop. Locke lights the fuse anyway and tosses the dynamite. Jack tackles Hurley just before the hatch blows up.
