The Lord of the Rings Middle Earth Places: Emyn Muil
Emyn Muil:
- Appears in The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers
- Located east of Amon Hen and northwest of Mordor
After Frodo and Sam leave the rest of the Fellowship behind at Amon Hen, they enter the rocky hills of Emyn Muil. They wander and even seem to be lost at times in the confusing terrain. It is here that they capture and "tame" Gollum, who had been following them. He attempted to sneak up on them and take back the Ring, but the Hobbits are ready for him. After taming Gollum, he agrees to be their guide and leads them toward Mordor.
