1. The Creek (1:40)
It is following day after the family had heard the sound of battle in the distance. Benjamin Martin has told his children to stay close to the house.

Down by the creek, Margaret walks up and slows as she looks down at the creek. She comes to a stop and her face takes on the same shocked look that Nathan and Samuel have. The creek is running red with blood and other gruesome reminders of the nearby skirmish float by them.

The sequence switches to a closeup of Margaret looking down at the bloody creek. She is upset by what she sees, but like Nathan and Samuel who are frozen beside her, she can't look away.
