Ephel Duath Foothills:

After being released by Faramir and they leave Osgiliath. Frodo, Gollum and Sam return to Ithilien, journeying into the Ephel Duath Foothills. It is here that Gollum has an internal debate and decides that Frodo broke his promise to protect him because of the mistreatment shown him by Faramir and his Rangers. This eases Gollum's conscience in his choise to betray Frodo to "Her" (Shelob).
