The Lord of the Rings Middle Earth Places: The Citadel
 
The Citadel:
- Appears in The Return of the King
- Located on the seventh tier of Minas Tirith
The Citadel is located on the seventh and most heavily defended tier of the city of Minas Tirith. The High Court of Gondor and the Tombs of the Stewards are within the Citadel. The White Tree also is located in the courtyard of the Citadel.
It is near the White Tree that a seriously wounded Faramir is brought. Pippin realizes that he's still alive, but Denethor despairs as though Faramir is already dead and orders Faramir brought to the Tombs of the Stewards. It is in the courtyard where Aragorn's coronation as King of Gondor is held.
