Gandalf battles with the Balrog as they fall. He finally defeats the Balrog on the peak of Zirakzigil.

Gandalf meets Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas in Fangorn Forest . They then ride to Edoras and the Golden Hall where he breaks Saruman's spell over King Théoden. After Théoden decides to evacuate to Helm's Deep, Gandalf leaves and rides north. He arrives at Helm's Deep with Éomer to turn the tide of the battle.
