In a sequence set while Gandalf travels to Minas Tirith to check on the identity of Bilbo's ring, Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam spend an evening at the local watering hole for some conversation, song and ale. Sam keeps a shy eye on Rosie Cotton who works as a barmaid at the Green Dragon.
In The Return of the King:
After they return to The Shire, the Hobbits a pint there, although Frodo looks preoccupied and distant.
