Lieutenant Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii in Season One:

Lieutenant Sharon Valerii is a Raptor pilot aboard the Galactica. She and Chief Petty Officer Tyrol are involved in a relationship that was allowed to continue because of the Galactica's anticipated retirement. When the Cylons attack, she and Lieutenant Karl 'Helo' Agathon fly their Raptor with the Galactica's last Viper squadron. The squadron is wiped out and Sharon has to land the Raptor on Caprica to make repairs. Survivors spot them and they are forced to hold a lottery for the remaining space after taking the children. Helo then decides to give up his seat to Gaius Baltar. Sharon tries to talk him out of it, but he refuses. She is upset, but departs.

She brings the survivors to Colonial One and President Laura Roslin assigns her to find more survivors and bring them back to her fleet. When Roslin's fleet finally joins the Galactica at Ragnar Anchorage, Sharon is reunited with Chief Tyrol. Tyrol covers for her when she awakens soaking wet and in possession of munitions. When the water tanks blow up, Tyrol continues to cover for her. Sharon and Crashdown then find water.

Colonel Tigh orders her to end the relationship with Chief Tyrol, but they continue to meet with his deck gang covering for him. One of their meetings takes place about the same time that the Aaron Doral model Cylon manages to gain access to Galactica, access a munitions locker and blow himself up. As a result, Sergeant Hadrian's investigation and subsequent tribunal centers on them. Sharon lies and Tyrol won't talk at all in order to protect her. The result is that Specialist Socinus takes the blame out of a misguided loyalty to Tyrol. Tyrol then breaks things off with Sharon.

In a later encounter with Chief Tyrol, she is disturbing when talking with him about the captured Cylon Raider. Her paranoia brings her to practically beg Gaius Baltar to test her with his Cylon Detector. It gives a positive result, but he lies to her. She and Crashdown find the Cylon mining base and later, Kobol. After a conversation with Gaius Baltar, she tries to kill herself, but fails. She then is chosen by Commander Adama to infiltrate the Cylon basestar orbiting Kobol. She succeeds in that mission, destroying the basestar, after having an encounter with multiple copies of herself. Back in Galactica's CIC, she is congratulated by Adama before she pulls a gun and shoots him twice.

Lieutenant Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii in Season Two:
Colonel Tigh has her thrown in the brig. Chief Tyrol comes to see her in the brig, but when she tries to reconnect with him emotionally, he coolly rejects her. After Commander Adama recovers, he visits her in a effort to understand why, but almost nothing is gained from it by either of them. While Sharon is being escorted through the ship, Cally shoots her. As she lays dying in Tyrol's arms, she tells him that she loves him.
